FROM THE END IN LONDON, TO DC10 IN IBIZA : DESTINATION MIGHTY, SF

San Francisco, CA – August 17, 2007 -- Residents of London’s famed THE END and Ibiza’s renown Superfreq parties are coming to San Francisco. Mighty and Non-Fat present to you “The Superfreq Express” featuring the former member of The Shamen and “Tech House” originator/catalyst, MR.C; his protégé and esteemed producer, Adultnapper (Francis Harris); and the next big thing in Electro House – Dollz At Play. Featuring a feast of cosmopolitan, techno-electro, acid, minimal house and techno beats from legends and prodigies– this is a show San Francisco will never forget.

For over 5 years now, the Superfreq nights have been one of the best underground parties around the world continually challenging eclectic electro, house and minimal techno sounds. They currently run every Sunday at The End, as well as select North American dates with Made Event in New York & Miami with a new quarterly residency at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles. After three fantastic seasons in Ibiza, the party successfully migrated from club Underground to the legendary DC 10 last year and the mayhem is now fully underway every Wednesday this summer. In 2005, Superfreq Records was established with partner Luke vB and currently the label is establishing a firm foothold in the world of cutting edge electronic dance music while still retaining a serious element of fun inherent in the Superfreq mantra. On the production front Mr. C has teamed up with Brooklyn’s emerging talent the nefarious Adultnapper, under the guise of the Sycophant Slags.

A true pioneer of dance music Mr. C scaled pop culture heights with the psychedelic-influenced techno-rave act The Shamen in the 1990s as pioneers of the rock/dance crossover and harbingers of today’s scene. His devotion to underground dance music and ascension as tech-house doyen and co-owner of London’s popular The End nightclub has kept Mr. C at the top of his game and a mainstay of the global techno scene. "I phoned round the main movers and groovers in the tech-house scene and said, 'Look, if we all start using this word to create a genre for ourselves, the press can jump on it. All of a sudden we're going to be seen as the leaders of this music.' And it worked.” His commitment to experimentation and credibility in setting the standards for sophistication in all sub-genres of dance music has earned him world-wide prestige as he endeavors to take the sounds of the underground to new and more accessible heights.

Relying primarily on the ancient art of mixing two records, Francis Harris’s precision skills and thoughtful programming have earned him a reputation as DJ equal to his regard as producer an uncommon distinction. Adultnapper tracks have since appeared on some of the world‘s most esteemed labels Steve Bug’s Audiomatique, Frank Lorber‘s Nummer, Mr. C’s Superfreq, Mule Electronic, Dirt Crew, etc. and have been hotly tipped by elite Djs Loco Dice, Danny Tenaglia, Craig Richards, Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Monika Kruse, Steve Lawler, Danny Howells, etc. thus firmly establishing Harris as one rare purveyor who steadfastly challenges the conventional wisdom and accepted shortcuts of post modern electronic music. On the decks, Harris intricately weaves divergent strains into a thick, pumping groove that subtly rises and falls, drawing the crowd ever deeper within his emotion-laden, melodic journey. Circo Loco at DC10, Ibiza, Cielo in NY, The End, Mulletover in London, Weekend in Berlin, Pawn Shop in Miami, Avalon in LA, are just a few of the world’s discerning floors that have been graced by Adultnapper and been left clamoring for more.

Dollz at Play are a new concept in dance music & with their punky, rocky style are the new generation of Electro-House. If you haven't heard of the Dollz At Play by now then you've been hiding under a rock for the last couple of years. The Dollz continue their proliferation of the dance music world in their own unique style by completely capturing the imagination of the unsuspecting masses.
On top of holding down their residencies at Superfreq at The End in London on Sundays & DC10 Ibiza on Wednesdays the Dollz At Play have been ultra busy jet setting around the world to the far flung reaches of the planet, playing their own take on modern electronic dance music. Since their rise & rise, the Dollz At Play have been picked up by some of the best DJ agencies in the world including www.wildebookings.com worldwide, www.itb.co.uk for the UK & naomismart@gmail.com in Mexico. They've become a sensation not only in the UK where the Dollz are based but also in Germany & France. Not only do the Dollz have great musical taste & technical ability but they are also uber-stylish, often raising the bar with fashion related to music. Having graced the front cover of DJ Mag and conquered gigs most DJs only dream of, Dollz at Play are giving new meaning to “revolution”.

Mighty is opening the flood gates to a minimal-techno-acid-house revolution that will surely change how San Francisco parties – and their bringing the people who created, make, sustain and operate the infamous DC10 and The End to make it happen.

2007 HAIGHT STREET FAIR / NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!!

Well, here the Haight Street Fair is in 2007 with a small minority of squeky wheels making some noise about our fair.

In Pablo's passing a two year old group has increased their demands on us. Some folks from the Haight Ashbury Neighborhood Council (H.A.N.C.) have heard gossip of their intentions of either trying to take over the fair or force us under their control.

Members of the Haight Street Fair Board have sat in a few meetings with HAIA, CVIA HANC (the real group that represents the neighborhood, without having to say it) and a couple of other groups that are out of the haight village or have one member Impovement Group status.

Supivisor Ross, District 5; has hosted a few meetings for us. He has been helpful in trying to create some fair ground for everyone. With all of his efforts we are still in conflict with a group that does not act in good faith towards us.

In one meeting that Ross called in city hall a member of the HAIA, Michael O'Connor (Whom is a third owner of the nightclub, THE INDEPENDENT; on Divisidaro St) spoke out strongly against the Haight Street Fair. Thanks Michael O'Conner!

We went into our ISCOTT hearing last Thursday and the president Mr. Lee put a hold on our street closure permit hearing for two weeks.

Please spread this information out!

The attack on street fairs is an increase of killing SF culture.............I love my urban city very much............and do take seriously that WE here in SF are in the middle of a culture war right now.

Brad and the How Weird Street Fair got their permits after being rejected. But with huge new demands, their time was cut from 8pm to 6pm, and Brad cannot have his fair there in 2008!

To show some support you can come down to our hearing on:

THURSDAY MARCH 22ND @ 10am SHARP!
@ 1 South Van Nes Ave. 7th Floor San Francisco

or you can email your support to:

Cindy Shamban
Department of Parking and Traffic
415. 701.4683
Cindy.Shamban@sfmta.com

Lets not let this happen guys and grrls.......we need your love and support.

ABOUT THE COUP:

Perhaps more than any other Cali-affiliated hip-hop outfit, the Coup must be understood within the proper context. Their music directly relates to their life experiences, their environment, and the struggle for self-definition. Ever since the Last Poets, the original inner city riots, many rappers have talked revolutionary talk, but few have walked the walk quite like Boots, the son of a Black Panther Party lawyer who grew up in Oakland in the 70s, a time when "power to the people" was not just a slogan, but a way of life.

ABOUT PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS:

The underground hip-hop outfit People Under the Stairs were formed by Mike Turner (Double K) and Chris Portugal (Thes One), who met on the fringe of L.A.'s late-'90s hip-hop underground. The duo, devoted to jazzy samples, danceable beats, intricate rhyming skills, and laid-back humor, debuted in 1998 with the acclaimed The Next Step and followed it up in 2000 with Question in the Form of an Answer. Gathering heavy praise and touring with De La Soul, the group took their road experiences and brought it to the studio to record their next album.

ABOUT THE FLAVOR GROUP:

The Flavor Group, LLC is a leader in the world of Urban Dance and Special Event Marketing. This collective of musicians, dancers, and visual artists was founded by Prem Kumta in 2001 and continues to build community through events that encompass everything from professional dance contests to South Asian concerts. The Flavor Group, LLC also offers a wide array of services including event consulting, graphic design, and web, DVD, and film production for clients as diverse as Red Bull, SF Mayor Willie Brown, and Sony Entertainment.

ABOUT TRUE SKOOL:

True Skool has transformed the SF club landscape from mundane to magic as it presents the cream of international rhyme sayers and beat-slangers. Pam the Funkstress, Afrika Bambaataa, Masta Ace, Zion I, Asheru, and J-Live: the list of performers, who've graced the stage for True Skool reads like a who's who of hip-hop's independent royal family.

ABOUT SOLE DIVISION:

The Sole Division collective has garnered sound recognition
for innovation, cultural advancement, and the articulation and
application of Sole Division Music and Arts 2004. The festival was
highly praised and named, "The greatest conceptual event ever in
Northern California," by the Metro Magazine as well as "The Suburban
Woodstock of our generation" by Evil Monito Magazine. The collective, lead by Sean Miyashiro, has orchestrated customized marketing campaigns communicated through internet, print, radio, and onsite-presence for companies like Alternative Press, Immune Enviorments, San Jose Downtown Association, and PETA among others.

Rise: 4/22/05
Rise: A new night in San Francisco bringing together the artists pushing progressive forward internationally, and the local crews true to the sound right here in San Francisco.

Where: 1015 Folsom, San Francisco
21+ w/ ID 10PM - 6AM
$20 @ door
$15 Presale here: http://www.groovetickets.com/ordersystem/Groove/eventviewqb.asp?AffilID=93&EventsID=15838&PGname=Ten15

Who:
Michael Thomas aka BLACKWATCH
Blackwatch is nothing short of a progressive phenomenon. His skillful, powerful productions have dominated the industry with over 50 releases and remixes on such labels as Global Underground, Renaissance, HOOJ Choons, Bedrock, YoshiToshi, Plastic Fantastic, Hope, SOG, Fade, Shinichi, Pitch Black, and Ministry Of Sound. His recent smash hit "Gentle Rain" with Greed went on to top major DJ charts all over the world in 2004. And now his current label home is Paramount Pictures, where he's opening up the space within his legendary sound further than ever.

Justin Scott Dixon aka VOYAGER
Voyager's extensive body of work has been widely acclaimed throughout the dance industry. His tracks and remixes have been licensed to heavyweight CDs including Sasha's GU San Francisco, and John Digweed's GU Los Angeles and 'Stark Raving Mad' compilations. As an innovator in the legendary Orlando dance scene, Scott was one of the first artists signed to Sasha's Excession label. Since then, he has released an astoundingly successful run of tracks on labels such as Bedrock, Rhythm Syndicate, and Fire. He was also chosen to remix John Digweed's massive Bedrock stormer, 'Beautiful Strange'. Today Voyager is forging a new sound in progressive: towering beats, wide-open soundscapes, innovative melodic progressions, and SF is proud to host the debut of his groundbreaking new material.

Adam Collins aka OMNI AM
Since his emergence from the Chicago underground in the mid 90's, Adam Collins has been instantly synonymous with the true underground Tech-House movement in America, well before the upstart genre's emergence among the transpotters as a cool musical buzzword. Adam owns and operates the extremely influential Euphoria Recordings and has released on such labels as Swag (UK), Big Chief (NYC), New Life, Crayon and Primal Recordings. He has produced work with Uk tech house guru's Terry Francis, Eddie Richards, and Grant Dell, and remixed such acts as Derrick Carter, Jay Tripwire and Mr. C. His DJing career brings him all over the globe with performances at Crobar (Chicago), Arc/Twilo (NYC), Space and Concorde2 (UK). Today, Adam in every way represents success in bringing the biggest sounds of the globe to North American dancefloors.

<<< This friday, April 1st >>>

A night of trickery, laughter, and play....

Get Freaky

Friday April 1

* Featuring a midnight performance by El Circo *
!!!!!!Plus mad deco and insane imagery
<<< Breaks & Bass >>>

Tayo (Skint, UK) : Tayo has been involved in shaping today's break beat sound since the scene'very early days. The king of dubby breakbeats, and DJ for UK station KISS FM, Tayo is the man of the hour! His Tayo Meets Acid Rockers Uptown track is an absolute classic!
http://ten15-6.c.topica.com/maadlU5abfDeLaIpfHfbadIdPI/

Deekline (Botchit & Scarper, UK) : One of breaks most innovative and exciting prospects , Deekline is responsible for adding another string to the breakbeat bow with his push toward the booty bass sound which is making huge waves in the US. 2005 looks set to be even bigger for Deekline and his partner Wizard.
http://ten15-6.c.topica.com/maadlU5abfDeMaIpfHfbadIdPI/

Baobinga (Hardcore Beats, UK) : Baobinga is Sam Simpson and ?Baobinga? means ?Pineapple Smoothie? in Shanghainese, picked up during his six month spell teaching English in, and meandering around, China. His music has a musical quality that few producers manage, mainly because he is classically trained pianist and has drummed with philharmonic orchestras and rock groups alike. His first commercial release, ?Nukka?, was greeted with more than a little enthusiasm, eliciting comments such as: "Best 12" from Raygun so far. Killer!" and "F*ckin' Sick!!! 10/10" from the likes of Hybrid, The Plump DJs and Aquasky. His new label Combat Beats is set to raise the standard for Bassline Breakbeats.
Photek (Metalheadz/UK) : A beat obsessed junglist, Rupert Parkes stormed the cognescenti with his groundbreaking 'Modus Operandi' release. In 2000, he did it again with his house opus 'Solaris', jettisoning drum & bass puritanism while maintianing himself in a league few have attained before.
